The Making of Me Podcast with Aro
I recently had the opportunity to join Aro on The Making of Me podcast.
One of the reasons I enjoy these conversations is that they give me a chance to reflect on the people, experiences, and lessons that have shaped my journey. None of us gets where we are alone. Along the way, we are influenced by mentors, teammates, family members, friends, successes, failures, and sometimes the challenges we never saw coming.
During our conversation, we talked about leadership, resilience, military service, fatherhood, and purpose. We discussed lessons from 32 years in the Army, the transition beyond the uniform, and the journey that eventually led to Warrior Dad Stories.
One of the things I have learned over the years is that purpose does not end when a chapter closes. Whether you're retiring from military service, changing careers, facing a setback, or entering a new season of life, there is still meaningful work ahead. The mission may change, but the opportunity to serve, lead, and make a difference remains.
We also spent time talking about fatherhood.
Of all the titles I have held throughout my life, "Dad" remains the one I cherish most. Much of what I write, speak about, and build today is rooted in the lessons I learned as a father and the desire to leave something meaningful behind for the next generation.
I want to thank Aro for the invitation, the thoughtful questions, and the opportunity to share part of my story.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who continues to support Warrior Dad Stories. Every conversation, every podcast, every book, and every speaking engagement is another opportunity to connect with people who are navigating their own challenges, transitions, and opportunities.
I would be honored to have you listen to the episode and share your thoughts.
